As you read this I am out in the sunny Caribbean with over 100 of my friends on the Tex-Mex Fandango Cruise. Now in the past I have experienced two Super Bowls while on a cruise, but not this year. We return to Galveston February 6, Super Bowl Sunday, and you can bet we will be walking off the ship as soon as we can. You can do that you know. We won’t be waiting for our deck or color or whatever to be called. The ship is Royal Caribbean’s Voyager of the Seas.
We have planned to keep our bags in the cabin and at the first opportunity, we will simply grab them and head out the door. Yes, you
still have to go through customs, but since all we carry back with us is a bottle or two of Ramona’s Margarita mix, it should work out just fine. We always park directly across the street from the cruise pier and we will walk across the elevated crosswalk and end up almost at the front door of our parking garage.
After loading our bags, we head just a few blocks down the street to the waterfront where the shrimp and fish vendors are located. We then will load up on some fresh shrimp right off the boat, and then head for home. We should get there by game time.
If know Ramona, she will have something prepared and ready to pop in the microwave to eat during the game…..as if we will be needing anything else to eat after a cruise.
Look below at the clickable links for the recipes to some Super Bowl goodies to try this year. And since there is not a Texas team playing, I’m kinda ambivalent about who wins.
At least the game itself is being played in Texas!
