Real Texas Thanksgiving

Most Real Texans have a lot to be grateful for and We are no exception here at Sherwood Ranch.  We are grateful for health, being born Texan, and for our family and friends.  We do not wish for a lot of material things, and what we have is plenty.

And speaking of plenty, we have plenty of good food during the Thanksgiving Holidays and we will be sharing these Real Texas Recipes early just to give others a chance to see if they might be interested.  Some of our specialties include:

I’ve become more interested over the years in what we have for Thanksgiving dinner.  Now, a lot of what we do is just pure tradition whether we are hosting the large extended family group here at Sherwood Ranch or not.  The fried turkey is turning out to be a lot like a man’s barbecue.  He has his own peculiar and sometimes ‘secret’ way of fixing the brisket or turkey and takes a lot of pride in how it turns out.

The turkey preparation has turned into a multiple day event which includes brining the bird and injecting it with just the right seasonings.  I’ve even become a fan of basil pumpkin pie and all the rest.

Doesn’t get much better than being around my house during the holidays.
