Happy Thanksgiving from Real Texas

Just a short note from our house to yours.  For most Real Texans, Thanksgiving is a happy time of food, family, friends and football.  Most of us also realize that we have much to be grateful for and we readily admit that we do.  We’re no exception here at Sherwood Ranch.  We have much to be thankful and grateful for and we know we are blessed.

So, here’s to our extended family of readers of Real Texas Blog…here’s to you and your family….from ours. We have family from Amarillo to Houston and from East Texas to West Texas.  We love ’em all and we send Texas sized good wishes to everyone.

And if you don’t have any leaves at your house, bring a rake and an appetite.  I’m fixing to fry the turkey and Ramona’s in the Kitchen cooking something good!

I can think of a lot of things to do with leaves other than raking them up into a pile. Blow them into that creek: use a leaf vacuum, grind and put on your garden; use a lawn mower to collect them or grind into mulch for your lawn and grass………..

Actually I do a little of all that. About 10 bags worth go into black leaf bags and then I set them aside for a year and let them compost…..the rest get blown into a pile and yes, some go into the creek.

Hi David, hope your Thanksgiving was great. We all have much to be thankful for!!! One of those things is growing up where and when we didl. What a great time it was to be a kid, and what a great caring community. We will be celebrating Mom’s 90th birthday on Sun. Dec. 5th at her church in Lake Dallas. The years do slip away, don’t they? She and Daddy loved their years in Big Lake, and I wouldn’t take for those memories. Happy Holidays!!!!

First of all….Happy birthday to you! I know your birthday is November 29! Also, best wishes to your mom on her 90th birthday. She always brought out the best in students and was always leading by example. What an inspiration both your parents were to so many young people during their careers as Texas educators!
