I’ve kinda gone overboard on some of the newer artists here on Music Video Friday and the next songs here talks about some of that ‘going overboard’ on the new stuff.
I’m here to repent and join in with lots of others who still like the old style country music. You know, the drinkin’ and cheatin’ songs that can wring so much emotion out of a song it just sits there and cries in its own beer.
The last honky tonk I closed down (stayed until the bitter end) was about a month ago at a place called the Stagecoach Saloon. We went there because it was a cruise party for Texas Cruise Company and the Tex-Mex Fandango Cruise. My friends T. Gozney Thorton and The Old Hat Band were playing and Kenny Daniel of Kenny and the Kasuals fame was also there. Kenny had a big teen band back in the late 60’s before everybody got drafted and broke the band up. You can read lots more about T. Gozney and Kenny on the Tex-Mex Fandango site. Yes, we own Texas Cruise Company. Yes, you can still go on this cruise with us in late January, 2011.
There were lots of friends there and it was just what you would expect. Lots of dancing and just plain old fun. Sorry, no fighting or severe drunks. Most of the folks I knew were just there to have fun and they did.
So, here is a song that advocates the good old days of Country Music sung by George Strait and Allan Jackson. If you can’t dance to that song there just isn’t any hope for you…..
Murder on Music Row….
And here is Amarillo by Morning…
All My Exes,Live in Texas….
Heartland…
George Strait is the real deal. I addressed him quite extensively in my coming eBook, How To Be Texan – Wherever You Are. He can write, sing, act, and he can actually ride and rope. He attends some roping events out here in Real Texas and nope, nobody asks him to sing, they just compete against him as a roper. Nobody asks for autographs or bothers him or really recognizes him as a celebrity. They are real cowboys and so is he. He is there to compete in roping.
And he does.
Is this next song really about Lane Frost?

Always start my Saturday mornings off with a cup of coffee and Real Texas Blog Music Video (anxious to see how long you can use Roman Numerals and I still recognize the number). This was a “two cup of coffee” morning. George Strait and Allen Jackson will always be my favorite and “Murder on Music Row” may just be my favorite song. There is nothing that can cheer you up like a sad, cheating, “tears in your beer”, country song! This is going to be a great day!
That George Strait is a heart thumper, Ooooh, be still my heart!
