Grand Old Opry still great

Here is some history for you and a few performances from The Grand Old Opry.  The Opry was the springboard for many star studded country music careers.  I have not enjoyed a live performance there, but you can bet it is on my bucket list of things to do.

My kind of C & W music, entertainers, and songs. Nothing better than the Opry. Don’t care very much for modern-day
C & W music or those doing the singing.’

You just can’t beat Hank Williams, Sr., Carl Smith, Webb Pierce, Hank Snow, Ernest Tubb, George Jones, Loretta, Tammy, Patsy, and Kitty, Johnny and June.

We (the whole family) used to listen to The Grand Ole Opry every Saturday night on the radio, way back there before there were any TVs around.

Loved Minnie Pearl, Rod Brasfield, Grandpa Jones, Uncle Dave, Roy Acuff, Bill Munroe, Faron Young, Lefty Frizzell, Red Foley, Eddy Arnold, and Little Jimmy Dickens.

No one will ever have a more ‘mellow’ voice than Jim Reeves.

Yep, I’m getting on up there in years.
