What?   It’s not summertime?

Well it has seemed like it the last few days here in Texas.  Ramona just has to get this recipe in before the end of the year.  Strange huh?

Only in the South have I found Fried Green Tomatoes, and only in Texas will you find Lone Star Fried Green Tomatoes.

The only thing better is to dip them in Real Texas Jalapeño Mayonnaise!

The tangy juicy flavor of the Lone Star Fried Green Tomatoes and the creamy spicy flavor of the Real Texas Jalapeño Mayonnaise, makes this the perfect appetizer.

Lone Star Fried Green Tomatoes

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon ground Black Pepper
1 teaspoon crushed Red Pepper Flakes
1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
2 Eggs, lightly beaten
1 (12 fluid ounce) Lone Star Beer (Or your favorite beer)
1/2 cup Olive Oil for frying
5 Green Tomatoes, sliced 1/2” thick

Directions

Use very green tomatoes. Slice between 1/4” to 1/2″ slices. Don’t cut them too thick, so you don’t have to fry too long. Set aside.

Stir together with a fork the flour, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and garlic powder. Add slightly beaten egg.Add the main ingredient, the Lone Star Beer. Whisk together. It should look like, a pancake batter.

Dip the tomatoes in the batter and fry in olive oil. Cook the tomatoes for about 5 minutes on each side. Take out of the oil and drain on paper towels.

Well, now you’ve put me to shame. Look at how easy, not to mention less messy, yours are than the ones I do. I think it’s time for me to go back to the kitchen. And, who could pass up Lone Star Beer! I just love being a Real Texan!
