You’re Gonna Know His Name

His name is Gary Clark, Jr and he was discovered by the late Clifford Antone and he grew up in Austin.  Yes, he is the real deal and his “Bright Lights” rendition is a killer of a song.  He got started in the blues genre early thanks to his mentor Antone and he was playing with some major names by the time he was 15.  His parents had to take Gary to play and they were chaperones for the minors.  He named off a great litany of musical influences including local play makers Derek O’Brien, Jimmie Vaughn, Mike Keller, Henry “Blues Boy” Hubbard, W.C. Clark, Hosea Hartgrove as well as the kings: Albert, Freddie, and B.B.  And he named Stevie Ray saying, “I am from Austin after all.

Gary Clark, Jr. is getting accolades from across the nation and will probably jump from doing the clubs to doing the arenas on a national and international scale.

We just thought you might like to get to know  this magical guitarist and blues singer before he really hits the big time!

This interview is a little long so schedule some time if you want to know more about about Gary. It’s 17 minutes…
