Early voting in Texas

Early Voting is underway in Texas

From now through October 29, you may cast your ballot early in most precincts in Texas.  Regular election day is November 2, 2010.  Here in my community, we go to

Early voting through October 29

the county clerk’s office and vote early.  They have a voting machine or you can still write your choice on a paper ballot. That’s the way we like it and that’s the way we do it.

It’s now ‘put up or shut up’ time all across Texas.  In my experience, I have often heard journalists exhort their readers to go out and vote.  Doesn’t matter who ya vote for….just get out and vote.  Participate.

I’m a little different.

I’m here to say that it does matter.  It does matter who you vote for and if you have not been paying attention to what is going on in your community, county, statewide, and federal elections, then stay home.  Don’t go vote.

You wouldn’t be doing your candidate any good because you must not have an informed idea of what the issues are that are important to you.  That is why I say it does matter.

Now out here in my part of Real Texas, 70%  of us vote as conservatives.  Or at least we did so in the last presidential election. The fact also is that we are a fiercely independent group of folks and we wouldn’t vote alike in such numbers if we were not so independent.  It’s not like that in all areas of the state of Texas. There are areas that heavily support one side or another and some that are neck and neck.

Your vote will count this election cycle as never before.

My Austin relatives generally cancel out my vote on most issues.  My Houston relatives generally cancel out Houston liberal votes.  But we are still family.  Kinda like the rest of Texas, huh?

If you know your issues, go vote.  If not stay home.

I’m David out in Real Texas

Sharpening my votin’ pencil.

David, good advice. Very brave to tell people if they are not informed “don’t vote,” but so true. An uninformed, uneducated electorate is a very dangerous thing and at dire risk of becoming a flock of “sheeple”.

Remember, vote conservative, and when in doubt, vote for the candidate with the ‘R’ after their name!

Good advice David but I truly believe that the people of the whole US are fed up with with all the liberal crap coming out of the Washington Beltway.I and a lot of the people I know say throw all the bums incumbants out and lets try a group that may have America’s best interest at heart.Political office is supposed to be public service not a CAREER.Lets get back to serving the public not see how much we can serve them with pensions after 4 years, special health care, and all the freebies the rascals get from our tax money. 86 all the give away programs and start working for the people that WORK for it is they that make this country strong.

All of those ‘uninformed’ votes that took place in ’08 are the reason why we are in the shape we are in at the present.

I voted the first day the poles opened for early voting but since I live in San Antonio my vote was probably cancelled out 10 to one since San Antonio is such a DemocRAT town…:-(

I think he had Big Red in mind.
