Today is my birthday
There are only a few of my friends who share the same day of their birth with me, December 25th.
It’s a special day to have a birthday…..Christmas Day. It’s a birthday I can remember. For instance, being a typical male, I don’t really remember birthdays all that well. There are a few I remember such as my wife, my late father, my son, and a few close friends. I have two friends whose birthdays are on July 12. Don’t know why, but I always remember them. And there are some who are close to Christmas day. One friend’s birthday is on December 24. She came close to sharing a birthday with me.
This is my 62nd year. What a shock! That seemed so old only a few years ago, but it’s not old at all. 62 is the new 42. I am amazed. I don’t have an old bone in my body. I do however have a few artificial parts.
I don’t ‘think’ old and don’t act old. At least to me. Ramona does complain when I want to watch a ‘classic’ movie. “It’s in black and white,” she complains. And my music preference will always stay the same, even though it is now named oldies or 60’s and 70’s music.
I still have a lot of goals I want to accomplish before I actually get ‘old.’ Then it can be time to garden and sit outside on the porch and watch the sun set. I do some of that anyway when me and the dogs sit out and watch the deer in the pasture and eat hot sauce and chips….one for them, one for me!
Until then, I intend to keep on keeping on…………..Happy birthday to all Christmas babies everywhere.

My Fathers birthday was on Christmas also. He joked that it wasn’t fair because he only recieved one present for both events, so we always got him a big birthday cake and made a big deal out of it being his birthday. Some of my great memories of him.

Hi David,
If you think your birthday is rare…how about those of us who were born on Leap Year Day. February 29th…is my real date of birth. However, 3/4 of my life I have celebrated my birthday on February 28th. My Mother felt so bad about my birth occurring on this date, she always made certain I had a party on the 29th…(on years when it occurred). Until I went to school, I didn’t know the difference…and then when I was about 20, I thought, hey, this is not that bad. I am never going to get old. (If you count the birthdays) I am only 17 1/2 birthdays old…So when anyone wnts to know my “age”…I say, I have celebrated 17 1/2 birthdays…and always, I get a funny look, because while I do look younger (other people’s assessment) than my 70 years, I certainly do not look 17 1/2 years old any longer. lol… And I may be one of the only grandmothers to celebrate her 16th “real” (at the cronological age of 68) birthday with her oldest grandson the year he celebrated his sweet 16th birthday on February 24, 2004. In fact, I think I have only run into two people who share this birthday with me… in 70 years that is not many people!
Mostly it has been fun…Most people will remember the day….I get lots of birthday cards and good wishes via email.
The only down-side may be that those born on the 29th cannot celebrate the day of their birth on the actual date every year…that is why 3/4 of my life, my birthday is celebrated on the 28th…Most people ask what it is like to have so few birthdays, and I just say, “I am really, really glad I was not born during a year that there is a February 30th!”
And if you couple that birthday with a Wedding Anniversary of Valentine’s Day (February 14), we really do feel deprived…as you may know, the price of roses goes through the roof and getting reservations at nicer restaurants must be reserved very early…
Kenneth and I will celebrate being married 52 years in 2011…seems like only yesterday since we said, “I do”.
And lastly, thanks to our government, Kenneth was also born on a holiday. Typically, the only inconvenience his birthday poses is federal/state offices are closed and all banks. Each year he celebrates his birthday on October 12th, Columbus Day!
So David, Happy Belated Birthday! Looks like you had a nice party of family to help you celebrate!

Mine is on New Years Day, I had one party where people outside the family showed up. We were living in Dallas and at the age of five I walked up and down the block. Knocked on my friends doors and invited them. Then went home and surprised my mom with the news. My youngest son was born on Halloween.
David, Always remember that your birthday is on Christmas Day. Maybe I am one of the friends whose birthday you remember!! Our son Zack’s birthday is today. He informed us this year that he thinks he will change his birthday to June 27th. Told him it was a little late for that! Hope you and your family had a great day!
My oldest daughter was born on Junetienth…(June 19).
My son was born on Friday, May 13th.
My youngest was born on Dec. 7th–Pearl Harbor Day..
Made them all easy to remember.
Oh, their names are Veronica, Josh & Rachel, respectively.
I lost Josh on April 20, 2008, & Everything in my life has
changed since then.
