Here is a ‘new media’ way to advertise and promote a small Texas city and they contacted me for help in promotion.  I’m sure they contacted many other media outlets and I’m happy to help them out.

The Granbury Chamber  must have some pretty innovative folks there who are internet literate.  That is a big compliment by the way because as many small towns are struggling with ways to compete with larger towns for tourism dollars and travel dollars, Granbury has come up with a really good marketing idea to attract visitors.

Plus, Granbury is home to one of my very favorite newspapers in the Hood County News.  I have several friends who are leaders in the community newspaper business in Granbury and the Hood County News is consistently one of the best community newspapers in the country.

As a small town resident most of my life, I have both initiated and attended many meetings with a main topic of how to attract more jobs and/or dollars to local businesses.  Social media was not available to most of us only a few years ago, and still, most smaller towns are just unable to compete with say a Fredericksburg (one of my favorites as a progressive community) and even Granbury with it’s current campaign.

Read more about Granbury here and their campaign to attract more business and visitors.  It’s a fantastic approach and you might win a free trip to visit this great Texas town.

David,

I was in Granbury yesterday holding a Classroom Management training for the Granbury ISD school administrators. I had not been in Granbury in years – I was totally impressed! It’s the type of quaint, small town I would love to relax in for a week-end. In fact, I made plans to do just that in September. Great place!
