Voices of Texas

I have subscribed to several podcasts over the years and enjoy listening and learning from them from time to time.  Now that I am on a more regular walking schedule-the dog insists on it-listening to an informative podcast is a good way to Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnailenjoy being outside communing with nature and learning more about a particular subject at the same time.

My new favorite podcast is Voices of Texas with host Matthew Hinman.  Yep it’s all about Texas.

Podcasts are very similar to your favorite talk radio program except you choose the subject matter and area of interest.  There are podcasts on blogging by Brian Clark, Real Estate investing with Robert Kiyosaki, and others in the general self improvement genre….goodness knows I need self improvement.

Most of my podcast listening is of an upbeat nature although some are of a specific technical nature such as plotting a novel, writing techniques and such.  I’m about 25,000 words into my serial killer novel and it’s getting really interesting.  There are dozens of subject areas podcasts touch on including travel, health & fitness tips, losing weight, motivation, self publishing, cooking, and so much more.   I walk trying to get my 10,000 steps per day in and listen to something good at the same time. I have a ‘feed the mind good stuff‘ mentality.  You know, good stuff in – good stuff out.  And besides, when dealing with a serial killer all day long, I really need the good stuff sometimes.

It is a total win-win for me and it keeps the dog happy too!

On Matthew Hinman’s Voices of Texas podcast, it is easy to subscribe.  Just click on the highlighted  link and it will take you to the site.  Look around some, listen to Podcast #11 with me and any other one you might find interesting, and subscribe using his directions.

Since my favorite subject is Texas and all aspects of the Real Texas Lifestyle, I enjoyed being interviewed by Matthew Hinman of Voices of Texas podcast.  I enjoyed being interviewed and of course learning more about his podcast, Voices of Texas.

As I explained, a podcast is very much like a specialized radio station except it is all internet based.  Matthew had heard about me from a mutual friend, Tommy Busbee who operates the Texas Bass Couples bass tournaments statewide.  Busbee had said I have led an interesting life and I guess I have.  Busbee and I are both lucky to be alive after some of the adventurous and total dumb-ass things we did as kids growing up just about completely unsupervised in West Texas.  And I have to admit, Busbee was a lot nicer kid than me.  He still is.

Matthew Hinman started his podcast a while back and I am the 11th person he has interviewed.  I really enjoyed listening to his podcast/interview with #10 on the list, Tracie Pitcox of the Country Music Museum located in Brady.  I have driven by that place at least 100 times and you can bet I’ll stop and go in the next time I pass through Brady.  Really interesting interview.  When you visit the Voices of Texas site, be sure to subscribe to his podcast and whenever a new interview comes up, you can listen to it at your leisure.  Each episode is between 25-30 minutes long or so and you are sure to learn something new about Texas in a short amount of time.  The cost is totally free.  You might wish to help support Matthew’s efforts at some point in the future.

Give Voices of Texas a try….you’ll be glad you did.  You can listen to it on your phone or on your computer.  If you are not familiar with what a podcast is, listen to the episode he did with me and you will hear a Real Texas Accent.

That would be me speaking.  Mathew is the host and he actually speaks English.

I kinda tawk  Texan
