Real Texas Jalapeno Sweet Pea Bake is a tasty casserole side dish that will go with several main course recipes.

It has the sweet flavor from the peas, which is rich from the cream, and just enough spice from the Jalapenos.

It’s quick and easy and surely a recipe that will please.

Ingredients

1 can Sweet Peas

2 tablespoons Butter

1 teaspoon Garlic, minced

1/2 small Onion, diced

1 Jalapeno, minced

1 cup heavy Cream

Salt and Pepper to taste

Directions

Melt butter in a skillet and add minced garlic. Add diced onion (few at a time) to the skillet and stir it in. Cook it until the onion turns brown. Add minced jalapenos, salt and some fresh ground pepper to the mixture.

While you are cooking, preheat oven at 350°F.

Mix everything together. Add heavy cream to the mixture and let it come to a boil. Cook it until the liquid is reduced by half. Add little bit of bread crumbs to thicken the mixture. Fold in the peas to the mixture. Mix it very gently as the canned peas are very tender.

Once liquid is reduced, pour into a greased casserole dish. Sprinkle some bread crumbs on the top and cook it at 350°F for about 15 minutes until you get a golden crust on top.
