NBA teams don’t stand a chance

Jesus loves San Antonio Spurs

I am a loyal fan.  A loyal Texas teams fan that is.

To me, it is Texas Vs. the rest of the world.

If a Texas team is playing a team from one of those lesser states, then its a no-brainer.  I’m always for the Texas team.  That’s the way it is with lots of us Native Texans.

When I moved to the San Antonio area, I was somewhat shocked that the entire city was Spurs crazy.  That’s basketball for you non-sports fans.  Folks here don’t have a local NFL football team but they do have an NBA team and some bona fide stars in Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili, and Tony Parker, and the newly acquired LaMarcus Aldridge.  Kawhi Leonard is the youngster on that team who is a real star by himself.

But they also have a Spurs Jesus.  Say his name like its one word…SpursJesus.

He’s real and I believe.

He wSpurs-Jesus is realas even in the news lately.  He chased down a man who was attempting to burglarize his house and held him for the police to deal with.

Spurs Jesus apparently  attends most of the Spurs games to cheer them on and offer whatever support for the team that he can, which is immense.

Of Course.

He wears a white robe with a red sash and sandals and a crown of thorns with a Spurs logo on his left shoulder.  If you go to a Spurs game its very possible you can have your photo taken with Spurs Jesus, also known as Cordero Maldonado to his mortal friends.

Spurs Jesus captured a suspect who was trying to enter his home through a window.  He chased him in the Riverwalk area and the suspect squirmed away and jumped in the San Antonio River and went to the other side.  Spurs Jesus apparently decline to walk across the river to catch him again.  However, He did have the would be robber’s bike.  The man asked please could he have his bike back and went back to retrieve it when Spurs Jesus tackled him and waited on police to arrive.

It just goes to show you that you should never mess with a Texas sports team.  Especially when Jesus is on their side.

And even more especially the San Antonio Spurs this next season.  They have lots of firepower this year. If I see some miraculous shots…..I’ll know where they came from.  A Higher Power and a Crimefighter.  Who woulda guessed it?

The Spurs have some great players and Spurs Jesus is a great cheerleader.

Maybe he could hang out in Dallas some this year?  How does Cowboys Jesus sound?

I’m David out in Real Texas

Shaking my head at what I see sometimes.

Always root for the Texas team but know some die hard ttu, ut and aggie fan who will not root for the other regardless who they might be playing.

Sad but true, Herbie. When Texas was playing a team from Alabama a few years ago, I urged folks to back the Longhorns. A few Aggies told me they would NOT support TU in any damn game…..EVER!

That’s the way it is sometimes out in Real Texas.

Yes sir, David. It is exactly as you say. It’s Texas and it’s 49 disciples or satellites sir and I agree whole-heartedly. Texas is not only a state of mind or mine, it’s also well known throughout the world. Show a kid in China the State of Texas and they know exactly what and were it is. Show a kid in China a map of Michigan and they say “It’s a hunk of land with a parasite arm that looks like a hand with a well-defined thumb”.

And sports in Texas is a religion second ONLY to Jesus Christ Himself. I was stationed in California back in the early ’90’s and it was football season and I was homesick. I had a friend send me the Fort Worth Star Telegram and all of the left coasters were totally amazed that Texas had a whole section in the newspaper devoted solely to high school football. I explained to him the importance of the game there and he instantly became wise to the fact that football, in any format, Pop Warner all the way to the NFL was a ritual in Texas, that began in late summer and didn’t end until we were notified who the MVP was in the Pro Bowl.

Thanks for sharing this tidbit of Texas sports trivia David. I did not know of SpursJesus, but he seems like he’s full of “Spurs Spirit”.

God bless Texas…
