Delbert McClinton rocks Texas
Born in Lubbock, Texas, Delbert McClinton and family moved on to Fort Worth by the time he was 11 years old. His early influences were some blues rockers including Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin’ Wolf, Lightin’ Hopkins, and sometimes Jimmy Reed. Delbert McClinton is multi-talented and can play acoustic and electric guitars, harmonica, is a singer, songwriter, and just plain all around great musician. Delbert has had four albums that hit #1 on the blues charts and another that made it to #2.
Emmylou Harris had a #1 hit with a Delbert McClinton song, Two More Bottles of Wine. Delbert also won a Grammy for his album: The Cost of Living. He’s a true Texas original and every Real Texan should have plenty of Delbert McClinton’s songs in their collections.
Here are Delbert & Emmylou together…poor quality, but it shows them singing the hit song.

Lone Star Blues is my favorite by him….he’s a real doozier!!
Thanks for this one, David.
I’m adding Lone Star Blues to my iPod list. Thanks for the heads up!
I could have “Givin’ It Up For Your Love”, “When Rita Leaves”, “Squeeze Me In” and “One Of The Fortunate Few” on a four-selection CD and never have to listen to anything else. The man is a magician…I love me some Delbert McClinton…
…And four more to add to the list. Thanks Stephen!
