Ray Price is a Texas treasure
Ray Price was born in Perryville, Texas in January 1926. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1944-1946. For those of you who remember, the name of his band was The Cherokee Cowboys. He is a 1996 inductee into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Some of the younger readers may have seen Ray Price recently on the Huckabee show. TV personality Mike Huckabee performed with Price. Ray Price is still performing and recently toured with Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard.

You finally posted something an old man like me can enjoy. You can’t beat Ray Price. I never heard a song he couldn’t sing. Ray was one of the first, maybe ‘the’ first C&W singer to use a big orchestra type band.
I really do like Ray Price’s singing, and have used a lot of it to polish my belt buckles thesee many years. My complaint is that for the many years that he was a customer of mine, he never saw the need to use his abilities and position to try to be an example for younger people. I have no patience with a person his age being arrested repeatedly for dui’s and drug posession. Most of us outgrew that stuff in our early 20’s.
Ray had a lot of problems in his life, but he was still one of my all time favorite singers along with Jim Reeves and Conway Twitty.
