Classical Guitar
Mason Williams was born in Abilene, Texas and became famous as one of the premier classical guitar players on the planet. In fact, his hit song Classical Gas hit the big time in 1968. But what you probably did not know is that he is also a comedy writer who is well known for his work on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour, Saturday Night Live, and Glen Campbell’s show.
He won two Grammy Awards in 1968, one for Classical Gas and the other for Cinderella Rockefella, a #1 hit in Great Britain.

I was a big Mason Williams fan in the ’60’s but lost track of what he was doing. Thanks for this! So glad to see he’s still working, and so wonderfully.
PS – Classical Gas hit the charts in 1968, not 1988. Jeez, time really does fly!
