Rusty Wier gone but not forgotten
Last week on Real Texas Blog I had a post about Austin City Limits and got a reply from my amigo T. Gozney Thornton. T. Gozney and his band were a pretty big deal in Austin back in the day. The post detailed the the new location for the show Austin City Limits and the details on how to get tickets, where to park and more. Austin City Limits has grown to be quite a show and has featured hundreds and hundreds of music stars over the years and is now is pretty posh digs compared to its humble beginnings.
It seems T. Gozney, along with Rusty Wier and Marsha Ball played there way back in the day when they were first thinking about even having Austin City Limits as a show….Here’s what T. Gozney had to say, “Great article!! Did you know that the T. Gozney Band played on KLRU along with Marsha Ball and Rusty Wier for the pilot of ACL…way back in the day?” No, I didn’t know that, but I’m not surprised. It seems T. Gozney really got around in his younger days and I’m finding more and more venues he played in and opened a good many of them.
Cancer took Rusty Wier in 2009, but his songs are still popular.
I looked up Rusty Wier and here are a few of his songs….
