K.R. Wood sings about Texas

I first met K.R. Wood 10 or more years ago when he had a performance out in Real Texas at a local festival.  Before that, I had heard of him though his Fathers of Texas series of songs and Texas commentary.  The Fathers of Texas series is plumb full of Texana for those of you who are interested in such things.

His CD, Camp Cookie and the Cow Camp Review has 32 or so tracks of pure Texas from the song Dixie to The Yellow
Rose of Texas to The Tale of Little Joe.  You can sing along yourself or sing along with the kids. Put that CD in your dashboard or on your iPod and the miles will roll along a little faster while traveling Real Texas Roads.

And speaking of The Kids, K.R. Wood does a specialized school program that features lots of these songs and a lot of Texas patriotism. Yes, he is also very inclusive and he has a complete CD featuring the contributions of Los Tejanos to the Texas Independence movement.  He doesn’t leave anyone out.  Ray Wylie Hubbard and John Arthur Martinez help out in many of the songs.

K.R. Wood also has a cowboy campfire catering business and he can whip up some authentic biscuits and gravy cooked over an open fire as well as plenty of other specialties.  If you have a family reunion or corporate event and you want to add a little Real Texas flavoring to it, contact K.R. Wood.  Let me know and I’ll put you in direct contact with him.

If you look closely in the first song, you’ll also see my buddies T. Gozney Thornton on the left and Joe Forlini on the right in the black hat.  Joe plays lead guitar for Jerry Jeff Walker and we went to see him two weeks ago at Gruene Hall.  T. Gozney Thornton has a big hit on his hands for his song Necisito Nada Mas and he has his annual Tex Mex Fandango Cruise every year that we never miss. K.R. runs in good company with T. Gozney Thornton and Joe Forlini.
