Waylon Jennings-Luckenbach, Texas
Waylon Jennings was born in Littlefield, Texas and a legendary twist of fate kept him alive to sing his songs. And the twist is that it was not Waylon that lost a coin flip, but fellow performer Tommy Alsup who lost his seat to Ritchie Valens who went on to lose his life in a plane crash along with Buddy Holley.
Waylon went on to fame as a fellow outlaw along with Willie Nelson and Kris Kristopherson. He was inducted into the country music Hall of Fame in 2001.

A major twist of fate indeed. Jennings gave up his seat Richardson “the Big Bopper” because Richardson had a cold and was complaining of the tiny seats onboard the bus. Holly, Richardson, and Valens were the members of the group that were experiencing the most success. This pivotal moment claimed the lives of some and changed the lives of others.
Allsup ended up starting a club names “The Head’s Up Saloon” honoring his dead friend as well as the coin toss that saved his life! Jennings changed country music for good and a 15 year old boy named Bobby Vee in MN got his career break as the others decided the show had to go on!
