CNG can save the USA

Compressed Natural Gas

If it is true that the USA has a 100 year supply of natural gas, why aren’t we using it?  Who, besides T. Boone Pickens is a proponent of natural gas and CNG in particular.

The primary problem is that there are no places to fill up your vehicle with CNG.  I did a quick search and found only 9 cities and 16 local gas stations in Texas where you can buy CNG,  and I’m not sure they are all available to the general public.  Click here for the source I found.  If there are more, let me know.

Is this an idea whose time has come.  Right here and Right Now?  Can Texas be a major beneficiary of natural gas development and CNG in particular?

Here is what two men are doing to spread the word.  The video is 15 minutes long, but worth the time and effort to see if this can save your pocketbook.

My 4th grade teacher had a brand new 1954 Ford. Her husband worked for a butane/propane dealer in McKinney, TX.
(No, his name was not Hank Hill). Anyway, her car had been adapted to run on propane. Many farmers had converted to propane for their p-u trucks. If they were “on the road” they could flip a switch & change to gasoline. I’m told it burns clearner & is safer than gasoline. Much more cost effective. After seeing all that natural gas being burned off oil wells in West Texas, I often wondered why it was not used to fuel our automobiles. (Propane is a type of natural gas—Is it not? — at least very similar).
